Constipation - Supporting Sufferers

This course has been designed to help the learner to understand the underlying issues surrounding constipation and the available treatment options. It is not designed to test competency in the suggested techniques. We will cover explanations, exercises and a case study to help the learner apply knowledge according to the differing circumstances and needs of patients suffering from constipation.

This may include:

• The definition of constipation and its impact
• Identifying factors that contribute to constipation
• Understanding the symptoms of constipation
• The role of diet and recommended foods/drinks based upon individual patient needs
• How medication can support or hinder constipation treatment
• Lifestyle and modifications
• Assessment and examination procedures
• How to communicate to patients based upon differing needs.

This course is designed to take around three hours to complete and will provide three CPD points.
