Parkinson’s Disease Awareness Training
In this course we look at the causes and symptoms of Parkinson's Disease, and the treatments, medications and support that is offered to those with the disease. We will cover clearly-explained content, with reflections exercises, a case study and short assessments to help you understand how you can provide individualised care. It is suitable for any careworker who is supporting patients with early-onset or latter stage Parkinson's Disease.
The course covers:
- Understanding Parkinson's disease, including its causes, progression, and impact on patients
- Recognising both the motor symptoms and non-motor symptoms associated with Parkinson's and how to address them
- Learning and applying the skills to create individualised care plans
- Understanding Parkinson's medications, while understanding treatments and side effects of medications
- How to manage more complex symptoms
- Working collaboratively with other medical professionals to support patients and their families
- Managing advanced Parkinson's stages, including palliative care planning and providing compassionate end-of-life support.
